A record 167 golfers from across the country participated in the 2021 edition of the CalBank Open Golf Championships, which concluded on Saturday 18th September, 2021 at the Achimota Golf Course.

The number is a significant increase from last year’s, when 152 golfers participated in the event, indicating a positive growth trajectory for the competition which is fast becoming the most prestigious competition in the golf calendar in Ghana.

The Ghanaian-owned bank organised the event as part of its annual strategy of empowering both professional and amateurs in the golf fraternity.

Some of the finest golfers from all the Golf Clubs in the country participated in the 18-hole competition.

“This year’s event has been very special and the numbers have been huge. It tells you the sort of value that people place on this tournament and on CAL Bank also,” Philip Owiredu, Managing Director of CAL Bank said of this year’s competition.

“Our vision is to make this competition the biggest golf competition in this country and we hope that in the future, we will have several other players from within the sub-region coming in to play with us.”

This year’s competition was special with the addition of a Suzuki vehicle as prize for any golfer that made a hole-in-one. The car was provided by CFAO Ghana.

In the end, no golfer made the hole-in-one and the car remains unclaimed.
