Afena-Gyan plays 32 minutes on quick return from injury

Ghanaian striker, Felix Afena-Gyan, has made a quick return from injury, featuring in US Cremonese’s latest league game in the Italian Serie A.

The 19 year old played 32 minutes off the bench in Cremonese’s 2-2 draw with Spezia, after an injury forced him off in a 1-4 loss to Napoli in the previous round.

Fellow Ghanaian forward Emmanuel Gyasi lasted the entire duration of the game for Spezia.

Afena-Gyan was spotted training with his team in the lead up to the Spezia game and put aside any fitness worries by seeing out the game after replacing Luca Zanimacchia midway through the second half.

This development comes at a time Ghana’s Black Stars squad list for the 2022 FIFA World Cup is under consideration – with Afena Gyan likely to be part of the squad.

Ghana is in Group H with Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay in its fourth appearance at the World Cup.

Afena-Gyan joined Cremonese this immediate past offseason from fellow Italian Serie A side AS Roma.
