2022/23 Betpawa premier league wk31: Medeama SC take top spot, Aduana stumble against Lions

Aduana FC failed to consolidate their spot at the top of the premier league table following a heavy loss to a very resilient Accra Lions side at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday

Ibrahim Tanko’s side produced a stellar performance beating the league leaders Aduana FC 3-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Baba Apiiga netted in the first half before Evans Botchway and Seidu Bassit added the other goals in the second half.

Joseph Addo twice denied Accra Lions in the early stages as he stopped Baba Apiiga and Seidu Bassit.

Baba Apiiga gave the host a well-deserved lead in the 28th minute as he curled in from the edge of the box for the opener.

Aduana FC improved their play in the second half but Accra Lions shocked them with the second goal in the 76th minute through Evans Botchway.

Seidu Basit put the icing on the cake in the 82nd minute to complete the rout as Accra Lions held on to secure all three points.

Earlier on– Bechem United earned a narrow 1-0 win over Legon Cities at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park on Saturday afternoon to keep their title aspirations alive.

Emmanuel Avornyo scored the winner in the 36th minute to hand the Hunters all three points at home.

On Sunday –

Bibiani Gold Stars continued with their dominance on home soil beating Tamale City by two goals to zero at the Dun’s Park.

In-form striker Abednego Tetteh grabbed a brace for Michael Osei’s side taking his goal tally this season to 14, tied with Tamale City’s Sampson Eduku and Hafiz Wontah Konkoni of Bechem United.

Dreams FC made it back-to-back wins in all competitions after a clinching a spot in the MTN FA Cup finals.

The “Still Believe Lads” recorded a vital 2-0 victory against Berekum Chelsea at the Theartre of Dreams.

Elsewhere in Ayinase, at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park, Karela United held Great Olympics to a goalless draw.

In Accra – Medeama SC thrashed Accra Hearts of Oak by five goals to one at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Jonathan Sowah with a brace, Akwesi Donsu and Derrick Fordjour with all the goals for the Mauves and Yellows.
