Home Stars FC, a club based in the Volta Region has edged former Ghana Premier League side, Inter Allies to a place in the 2023/2024 Access Bank Division One League.

This is after a 4-2 penalty shootout win in the final of the Division Two Middle League.

Home Stars FC came from behind to steal qualification from Inter Allies who were tipped as favourites to climb back to the Division One League.

With 25 minutes on the clock, Robert Osei Bonsu opened the scoring for Inter Allies but were pecked back through a contentious penalty decision given by the referee.

Stephen Addor made no mistake from the spot to level back things for Home Stars FC at the Ho Sports Stadium.

The two sides pushed for another goal, but the game ended 1-1 and would be settled on penalties, where Home Stars FC would win 4-2 to book a slot in the Division One League.

The win means that Volta Region now has three teams in the Division One League and Kpando Heart of Lions in the betPawa Ghana Premier League.
