Former Black Queens head coach, Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo says she has not completely shut the door on making a return to the team.
The veteran trainer, who became the first-ever woman to handle the national team, said this in an exclusive chat with Citi Sports.
Madam Tagoe-Quarcoo managed the Black Queens from 2019 to 2023 and led the Queens to victory in the maiden edition of the West Africa Football Union Zone B tournament in Abidjan in 2018 as interim manager.
Using former Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah as an example, coach Tagoe-Quarcoo indicated her willingness to return to the role in the future.
“Coaching is full of uncertainties. Kwesi Appiah was [head coach of the] Black Stars. He went for a while and he came back. I can come back. You never know. I am still a coach.”
Appiah led Black Stars to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil but was sacked after Ghana suffered a first round exit. Ghana had made the Round of 16 stage in back to back World Cups prior.
He returned to lead the Black Stars to the 2019 AFCON but got dismissed a second time after a poor showing.
The Black Queens recently beat Guinea 7-0 on aggregate under head coach, Nora Hauptle in the first round of qualifiers for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
