Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Okraku, is urging football stakeholders to work collectively to improve spectatorship at football games.

He made this call in his speech at the GFA Awards that honoured outstanding individuals and institutions for their contributions in the 2022-2023 season.

While touching on a wide range of issues affecting the sport in Ghana, President Okraku took time to address the sorry state of spectatorship at football games.

Games have in recent years had terrible spectatorship numbers and the GFA President believes a collective response is needed to tackle the issue.

“Let us also think about how we are going to bring our 12th man back to football. Our 12th man is our fan. We call our 12th man our supporter.

It is the collective responsibility of all us herein gathered to play our respective parts in ensuring that as we celebrate, we do this knowing very well that we have a role to play in bringing back the 12th man of football. This is our challenge in the new season.”
