Black Stars Chris Hughton says his team is highly motivated to do well at the 2023 AFCON in the lead up to a crucial game against Egypt.

He said this at a pre game presser as Ghana prepares to play Egypt at 20:00 GMT in Abidjan in its second game at this year’s AFCON.

Ghana lost its opening tie 1-2 to Cape Verde and is under pressure to get a win and improve its chances of progressing to the round of 16 stage.

After addressing the situation of Mohammed Kudus for the game, Hughton added that his side’s motivation for the Egypt game is tied to exceling at the competition after last winning the title in 1982. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“We want to do well in this competition this is the motivation that we need for this game against a big team, a successful team in Egypt.”

“This is the motivation and probably more than anything we are aware of expectations…and there isn’t one player in this squad that isn’t aware of what this game means.”
