Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has described Raphael Dwamena’s passing as “very tough” but as something that has to be accepted.

He said this in an exclusive chat with Citi Sports on the sidelines of the funeral of Dwamena who passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest while playing for Albanian side Egnatia.

Dwamena scored twice in nine appearances for Ghana’s Black Stars but his promising career was plagued by a heart condition.

This condition got him to collapse in a league game and required him to wear a defibrillator; the medical condition forced Brighton and Hove Albion to terminate an agreed deal to sign him.

Speaking on Dwamena’s passing, Agyemang-Badu was reflective about the former Levante and Real Zaragoza player saying,

“The feeling is not that great for us. It’s not. This is not what we want but…it’s life whichever way it comes, very tough but we need to accept it.”

Dwamena’s goals for the Black Stars were scored in a 5-0 win over Ethiopia.
