Chairman of Ghana’s Parliament Select Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism, Wisdom Kobena Woyome, has registered his displeasure over CAF ruling the Baba Yara Stadium as unfit to host international football games.

The ruling was handed down on Wednesday, September 11 with Africa’s football governing body’s ruling meaning that Ghana’s immediate upcoming games will be hosted outside the country.

Ghana is set to play against Sudan on October 11 and October 15 respectively in a crucial series of games in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

Ghana’s Black Stars go into the games needing a win after drawing 1-1 with Niger and losing 1-0 to Angola and playing away from home due to the terrible pitch at the Baba Yara Stadium clearly upset the Member of Parliament for South Tongu Constituency in an exclusive interview with ChannelOne Sports. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“There’ve been efforts in the past by the government releasing money for renovations in both Baba Yara and Ohene Djan (Accra) Sports Stadium; what has happened? I’m sure they just gave monies to cronies to just go and do things anyway, anyhow and the situation still persists.”

Honourable Wisdom Kobena Woyome

“There ought to be a serious paradigm shift my dear brothers and sisters. In fact there is the need for all of us to look at it and see how this ought to be avoided.”
