Alidu Seidu caps brilliant September with Rennes Player of the Month Award Win

Black Stars defender Alidu Seidu has been voted as the Player of the Month Award winner for French Ligue 1 side Stade Rennes.

The news was confirmed by Rennes following the conclusion of games in the month of September with Rennes preparing to host Ligue 1’s most in-form team AS Monaco on Saturday, October 5. Seidu is likely to play against fellow Black Stars defender Mohammed Salisu in the weekend matchup.

Seidu’s monthly award win comes on the back of winning two Man of the Match Awards for Rennes in games against Paris Saint Germain and RC Lens. Rennes lost 3-1 to PSG and drew 1-1 with Lens

Against PSG, Seidu lined up on the left side of a three man defensive unit and made two clearances, two blocks, two interceptions and three total tackles while making a goal line clearance.

Seidu also won all 10 ground duels he contested in the game against Luis Enrique’s side. The 25 year old joined Rennes from Clermont Foot just before the start of the 2024-2025 season.

He is in line to feature in the Black Stars crucial 2025 AFCON qualifier against Sudan after scoring his debut international goal In Ghana’s 1-1 draw against Niger in September.
