Ghana’s Mohammed Kudus has missed out on winning the 2024 Puskas Award (an award given to the player who scored the best goal in the season under review) with Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho winning the award.

Garnacho was announced as this year’s winner at the 2024 FIFA Best Awards that had FC Barcelona’s Aitana Bonmati and Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior named as FIFA Women’s and Men’s Best Player respectively. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

The Argentine’s brilliant overhead kick against Everton aided the Red Devils earn a 3-0 win at Goodison Park and won the top award ahead of a strong list of contenders.

He is the first Man United player to win the award since Cristiano Ronaldo picked up the award for his brilliant long range strike against FC Porto in the UEFA Champions League.

Kudus’ brilliant goal off a solo run in a 5-1 win for West Ham United over SC Freiburg in the Europa League made it to the shortlist but fell short of garnering enough votes to win the award.

The goal was the first of two the Black Stars player scored in the big win against Freiburg for The Hammers to earn qualification to the quarterfinals.
