The Upper East Regional Football Association (UERFA) has dismissed claims that the Kurt Okraku Technical Centre project in Winkogo has been abandoned.

According to the Regional Football Association Chairman, Alhaji Shaibu Zida, the initiative is a transformative project already yielding significant benefits for the region.

Let me clarify this, the project has not been abandoned.

It is the first phase that has been completed and it is a FIFA fully funded project.

Checks by Citi Sports Desk reveal that portions of the facility were commissioned in June this, year and have since hosted MTN FA Cup matches, Division Two fixtures, and other local games.

The Kurt E. S. Okraku Technical Centre, located in Winkogo within the Talensi District, is a collaborative project funded by FIFA and the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

It includes the construction of UERFA’s head office, dressing rooms, spectator stands, and a FIFA-standard artificial turf designed to host matches at all levels, including elite domestic competitions.

Although the project is still underway, parts of the facility are already in use.

These include the artificial pitch, floodlights, a generator for powering the lights, an inner perimeter, fencing around the land, two technical team benches, and two movable goalposts.

The centre continues to serve as a valuable asset for football development in the region.

The newly commissioned Technical Centre in Winkogo, near Bolgatanaga, situated in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region has been named after Kurt Okraku, the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
