Communications Director of Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC, Samuel Sarfo Duku Esq, has expressed his gratitude to the general public and supporters for the successful vigil held in honor of Francis Yaw Frimpong, also known as Nana Pooley.
His untimely passing occurred just a week ago at the Nsoatre Park during a game between Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman Football Club.
Speaking on the turnout, he acknowledged that despite the short notice given by the club’s management, the attendance far exceeded his expectations, leaving him “satisfied.”
As you have witnessed, this is one of the biggest vigils in recent times you have witnessed in the country, and I commend the football family and the general public for that.
Considering the short notice-a three-day notice-and this is what we got? We are satisfied.
And we are telling the entire public and the whole world that though we have lost a brother, his spirit is still with us, and that is what we take consolation in. And we are once again happy about the turnout, and we know that wherever his soul is, he will be gladdened considering the crowd he has been able to pull. We thank the media for being with us throughout the period.”

The vigil marked exactly one week since the tragic passing of Nana Pooley, who was the victim of a stabbing incident which eventually led to his death.
With recent police updates confirming the arrest of six suspects in connection with his murder, details regarding his funeral arrangements are expected to be communicated to the public in due course.
