Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club Interim Management Committee Chairman Nana Apinkra Awuah has taken a major swipe at the Ghana Football Association (GFA)’s top executives for failing to touch base with the club first before consulting other Ghana football stakeholders in the wake of the violent clashes that took place in the Ghana Premier League Week 19 game between Nsoatreman FC and Kotoko.
Speaking in a meeting between Kotoko and the GFA’s top hierarchy, Nana Apinkra registered his displeasure over the GFA’s handling of the clashes that led to the death of popular Kotoko fan Francis Yaw “Pooley” Frimpong during the game.
Members of the GFA’s Executive Council including Nana Oduro Sarfo and Kotoko Technical Director James Kwesi Appiah who doubles as a GFA Executive Council member were present at the meeting . Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Chairman John Ansah was present at the meeting.
The GFA has held meetings with Ghana Premier League teams, supporters of Ghana League teams, Division One teams and the Ghana Police Service to address the issue of hooliganism at league games since Pooley’s tragic death.

“In the course of the week, you have done so many things to us that are very painful. You are the league organizers and because of you we went to Nsoatre to play against Nsoatreman. When the incident happened, you (GFA) should have been the first to contact us to find out about what happened” Nana Apinkra said

“Ideally, this is the place you have come first to seek our thoughts before calling on the other stakeholders to meet in Accra. You hadn’t spoken to us before calling us to come to Accra so what was the point in calling us to Accra for a meeting if you hadn’t spoken with us the affected party first” Nana Apinkra added.
