Two of Ghana’s most iconic football legends, Abedi Ayew (Pele) and Asamoah Gyan, have been appointed as Ambassadors for the 2025 CAF African Schools Football Championship, set to take place in Accra from April 21-26 at the University of Ghana Stadium.
This appointment recognizes their immense contributions to Ghanaian and African football and their dedication to nurturing young talent.
Abedi Pele, a three-time African Footballer of the Year and former Black Stars captain won the AFCON in 1982 and led Ghana to the 1992 final. Beyond national success, he had a decorated club career in Europe, winning the UEFA Champions League title with Olympique Marseille.
Asamoah Gyan, Ghana’s all-time leading scorer with 51 goals in 109 appearances served as an ambassador for the tournament’s second edition. He won the silver medal at the 2010 and 2015 AFCON with Ghana’s Black Stars and played at three World Cups.
As Ambassadors, Abedi Pele and Asamoah Gyan will promote the tournament, inspire young players, and contribute to the growth of youth football across Africa.
Their involvement brings immense value, serving as a source of motivation for the young participants.
