Even before kicking the ball against Central African Republic (C.A.R.) in its final Group C game at the ongoing 2025 CAF Under 20 AFCON, Ghana has secured its place in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
The competition that is taking place in Egypt has Ghana’s Black Satellites scheduled to play against C.A.R. at 15:00 GMT on Thursday, May 8 with Senegal set to play against D.R. Congo at the same time.
However, Ghana has four points from drawing 1-1 with D.R. Congo and beating defending champions Senegal 1-0 ahead of its clash against C.A.R.
Based on CAF’s head to head rule which is the factor used to break ties between teams regardless of goal difference, Ghana will finish among the top two teams to automatically book its spot in the next stage even if Senegal beats D.R. Congo since Ghana holds the advantage in the head to head against Senegal.

Ghana heads into the C.A.R. game without lead striker Jerry Afriyie who has been recalled by Spanish side CD Lugo but Black Satellites head coach Desmond Ofei has called for his team to take C.A.R seriously. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
