Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren has stated that Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team needs to be sad and disappointed after losing in the semifinals.
He said this after Ghana lost 4-2 on penalties to host nation Morocco at the 2024 CAF Women’s AFCON despite dominating the first half and scoring a goal through Stella Nyamekye.
Ghana started the second half in similar fashion but continued to waste chances in the lead up to the equalizer from Morocco before two penalty misses from Evelyn Badu and Comfort Yeboah got Morocco to return to the continental championship final for the second edition in a row.
The Black Queens would get the chance to compete for a bronze medal against South Africa and for Kim Bjorkegren, the loss to Morocco needs to be met with sadness and disappointment.

“We surprised a lot of the other teams but our goal has always been in this group to win the gold… we need to be disappointed, cry a little bit…here and now I think we need to be a little bit sad and disappointed. I know it means a lot for many people” Bjorkegren stated in a post-game presser.

Nigeria beat defending champions South Africa 2-1 in the other semifinal game.
