Head coach of Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team Kim Lars Bjorkegren has indicated that the Black Queens have the potential to win the AFCON in the future.
He made this known in an interview when the Black Queens returned to Ghana from Morocco where they competed in the 2024 CAF Women’s AFCON.
The Black Queens finished third in the tournament after beating South Africa in a penalty shootout for its best finish since 2016.
Ghana’s performance at the tournament drew a ton praise and despite losing to host nation Morocco in the semifinals on penalties, Bjorkegren believes the team has the ability to win the title for the first time in the future.
“Tactical aspect, we learnt from the first game and we did some small changes.”

“The future is really bright in Ghana so we need to keep working hard. We can see how close we are…of course we know we can win it [the AFCON]” Bjorkegren said.
Ghana lost 2-0 to South Africa in its opening game before going on to clinch third place. Scroll down to watch Bjorkgren’s full interview
