Ghana forward Inaki Williams has taken a serious jab at FC Barcelona for their role in hurting the image and name of his brother Nico Williams during the course of a long drawn out transfer saga that ended in the younger Williams deciding to extend his stay with Athletic Bilbao.

Nico Williams was at the center stage of FC Barcelona’s transfer list this offseason with the winger heavily recruited by the reigning Spanish league champions.

However, the deal fell through as Nico Williams signed a 10 year deal to continue his stay with Bilbao and in an interview with Spanish media outlet Marca.

“Things happened that caused a lot of damage, like the mural of [of Nico] being vandalized, a car being broken…he made his decision with heart and ambition.”

“It’s a media campaign that they [Barcelona] may have thought would work for them…I think that all the noise from outside has done a lot of damage and muddied the waters because a lot of what was leaked to the media was untrue. The decision was his and there was no pressure on my part” Inaki Williams.

In a related move, FC Barcelona signed Marcus Rashford from Manchester United on a one year loan deal.
