Leader of the Minority Caucus in Ghana’s Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has led the parliamentary group to financially reward Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team, the Black Queens.
The Black Queens recently returned from competing in the 2025 CAF Women’s AFCON in Morocco where they finished third and clinched the bronze medal.
This is the Black Queens best performance at the continental championship since 2016 and members of the team were present at Ghana’s Parliament where they were praised by Parliamentarians including Member of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports, Lawrencia Dziwornu.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament, Minority Leader Afenyo-Markin, equally praised the Black Queens and went on to announce the donation stating,

“We are humble but proud to say that we [the Minority in Parliament] are the first to publicly acknowledge the industry of the Black Queens by donating 100,000 Ghana Cedis [$9,514 at the time of writing] to the Black Queens.”
