Ghanaian sprinter Edwin Gadayi delivered a strong and composed performance to finish third in the Men’s 200m Final at the 2025 Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) National Trials.

Gadayi clocked a time of 20.85 seconds with a wind reading of +1.4 m/s, showcasing his consistency and sprinting prowess among a highly competitive field in Benin City.

The bronze medal finish further cements the form of the Ghanaian athlete, who continues to be one of West Africa’s top sprinting prospects.

His performance adds to Ghana’s growing reputation in regional sprint events, especially as athletes gear up for the upcoming major championships on the continental and global stage.

Gadayi has had a strong season so far, and this podium finish will serve as another confidence booster as he looks ahead to more international competitions, including the African Championships and potential qualification for the World Athletics Championships.

The AFN National Trials serve as a key event in West Africa’s athletics calendar, attracting top sprinters from across the sub-region.
