Sporting Director of French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice, Florian Maurice, has shed light on the reasons behind the club’s move to sign Ghana midfielder Abdul Salis Samed.

The Black Stars player has signed a three year deal to join the club from fellow French Ligue 1 club RC Lens and has reunited with former Lens head coach Franck Haise and Samed is excited about the reunion. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

Samed fell out at Lens after Haise’s exit and played out the 2024-2025 season with AFC Sunderland and helped the Black Cats to gain promotion to the English Premier League.

Speaking after making Salis Samed’s move official, Nice’s Sporting Director talked about the qualities of the 25 year old stating,

“We were looking for dynamism, impact and good energy in midfield.”

“Salis is a balanced player, with a slightly more defensive profile than his direct competitors. He is fully committed on the pitch, has a real personality, and his knowledge of Ligue 1 and his personality will contribute positively to communication and the dynamic in the dressing room.”
