Ghana Athletics (GA) has officially unveiled a 30-member squad to represent the nation at the upcoming CAA Region II Seniors Athletics Championships, scheduled for August 18–19, 2025, at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon.

The team, made up of 17 men and 13 women, features some of the country’s finest athletes who excelled at national trials and recent competitions.

Their selection reflects a combination of experience and youth, with seasoned professionals lining up alongside emerging talents determined to make their mark.

On the men’s side, sprinter Ansah Sarfo will headline the 100m after clocking an impressive 10.31s, while Arthur Kevin Paintsil doubles in the 100m and 200m with times of 10.17s and 20.68s, respectively.

Other notable athletes include Solomon Diafo (400m – 45.80s), Aloo Sadiq (800m – 1:51.82), Benjamin Baidoo (Long Jump – 7.48m), and Teye Gabriel (Javelin – 65.65m).

The women’s team will be led by Kusime Diamond (100m – 11.98s), Zeinab Awuni (100m – 12.02s), and Aisha Ibrahim (200m – 24.65s).

Middle-distance runner Mariama Aidoo (1500m – 4:25.82), long jumper Selina Adongo (6.01m), and javelin thrower Margarette Simpson (43.83m) also stand out as medal prospects.

Coaches Munkaila Seidu and Dramani Abdul Wahab will oversee the team’s preparations and strategy for the championship.

The CAA Region II Seniors Athletics Championships will serve as a critical platform for athletes to meet qualifying standards for continental and global competitions.

Beyond individual performances, the event aims to promote unity and sporting excellence across West Africa.

GA has called on Ghanaians, sports enthusiasts, and the media to throw their support behind Team Ghana as they compete for glory on home soil.
