Black Stars and Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo says his performance at Anfield will remain one of the most memorable nights of his career, not just for the two goals he scored but for the solidarity shown across the football community.

The Bournemouth striker netted a brace in his side’s clash against Liverpool, and later took to Instagram to share his emotions.

“Last night at Anfield will stay with me forever – not because of one person’s words, but because of how the entire football family stood together,” Semenyo wrote.

He expressed gratitude to his Bournemouth teammates for their support, Liverpool players and fans for their true sportsmanship, and Premier League officials for handling the situation professionally.

“Football showed its best side when it mattered most,” he added.

Reflecting on his goals, Semenyo said they symbolised the language of football that unites players and fans across the world.

“This is why I play – for moments like these, for my teammates, for everyone who believes in what this beautiful game can be.”

The 24-year-old also acknowledged the overwhelming messages of support he received from the wider football world, saying they remind him why he loves the sport.
