Newly minted undisputed super middleweight champion of the world Terence Crawford says he is the new face of boxing.
His bold statement came in the wake of the Omaha, Nebraska native delivering a shock unanimous decision win over Mexican superstar Saul Canelo Alvarez.
The highly anticipated bout took place at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas in front of 70,000 fans with the judges scoring the bout 116-112, 115-113, 115-113 all in favour of Crawford.
Utilizing quick jabs, brilliant head movement, elite foot work and feints, Crawford scored points by landing shots from range and occasionally trading punches with Canelo.
Long regarded as the face of boxing, Canelo’s loss to the man who stepped up three weight classes, led to the conversation about who the face of boxing was but Crawford made his thoughts clear on the issue.

“This is the top of the top. Canelo is an all-time great like I said before…there’s no more Canelo’s there’s no more so when you look around you say I’m the Canelo, I’m the face of boxing now, I’m the best pound for pound fighter in the world” Crawford said in a post fight interview.
