Brentford FC midfielder Jordan Henderson has delivered a strong message to critics who have labelled him a cheerleader in England’s National Men’s Football Team, the Three Lions.

The veteran midfielder maintained his place in Thomas Tuchel’s England team to the surprise of many at the expense of Phil Foden, Jude Bellingham and Jack Grealish.

England are scheduled to take on Wales in a friendly game on Thursday, October 9 before playing Latvia in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on October 14.

According to the BBC, Henderson, who has made seven appearances for Brentford and registered two assists in the English Premier League this season, confessed that “I am not going to lie, over the past couple of years I have had some tough moments. It felt like a break-up when I left Liverpool” and hammered critics of his selection to the national team by stating,

“The most important people are the manager, the coaching staff and the players and what they think. Ask them what they think, if I am a cheerleader when I am here. I don’t think one of the best managers in Europe would be choosing me just to do that.”
