The seating capacity at the Accra Sports Stadium will be increased for Ghana’s final 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Comoros according to the National Sports Authority (NSA) Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah.

According to the NSA boss, the seating capacity at the stadium for the game has been increased from 26,000 to 35,000.

This is in line with the partial opening of a section of the edifice that was hitherto closed down for maintenance works. Ghana’s game against Mali, played in September, was limited to accommodating 26,000 fans.

At a press briefing held at the Accra Stadium ahead of this weekend’s game, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah delivered news of the increase in fans intake at the stadium.

“The good news is that the part of the stadium where fans weren’t permitted to go, we’ve been able to do some works there so some fans would be allowed to sit at those parts of the stadium” he said.

Ghana has all but qualified to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers which will take place in Canada, Mexico and USA ahead of its clash against Comoros after hammering Central African Republic 5-0.
