Africa’s football governing body CAF, has officially rejected Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s request to use the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for its CAF Confederation Cup second round matchup first leg against Moroccan side Wydad Athletic Club.

Ghana’s representative in the continental championship, Kotoko, are scheduled to take on Wydad on Sunday, October 19 at 15:00 GMT.

However, the Porcupine Warriors would have to play out the crucial game out at the Accra Stadium and not its home venue due to the edifice not meeting the standards of CAF to host a game of such magnitude.

“Management regrettably announces that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has declined the approval of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to host Kotoko’s CAF Confederation Cup clash against Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco” a section of the statement read.
