Manchester United produced one of their most determined performances of the season as second-half goals from Joshua Zirkzee and Mason Mount sealed a dramatic 2–1 comeback win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday.

United looked rattled early on and were fortunate not to fall behind sooner, with goalkeeper Arnaud Lammens and young defender Leny Yoro pulling off heroic interventions to keep the scores level.

But Palace eventually found their breakthrough after a chaotic sequence that saw Jean-Philippe Mateta score, have his penalty disallowed for a double touch, and then convert the retake with confidence in the 37th minute.

The turning point came in the 53rd minute, when Zirkzee; starved of Premier League goals for nearly a year; produced a moment of pure class. Under immense pressure and from an impossible angle, the Dutch forward wrapped his foot around the ball and curled it past Dean Henderson. It took a spectacular finish to beat the Palace goalkeeper, and Zirkzee delivered exactly that.

The equaliser injected life into United, and suddenly Amorim’s men looked fearless.

Nine minutes later, they completed the turnaround. A smartly worked set-piece saw Bruno Fernandes roll the ball sideways to Mason Mount, who unleashed a precise low strike through the Palace wall and into the bottom corner. It was Mount’s most decisive moment under the new manager  and it arrived when United badly needed leadership.

From there, United defended with heart, blocking crosses, slowing the tempo, and frustrating Palace’s late push for an equaliser.

In the end, Manchester United walked away with a victory built on character, courage, and two moments of brilliance  a ; win that lifts them above Palace and keeps their fight for top 6 finish
