Veteran Nigeria National Men’s Football Team winger Moses Simon has talked about the unity in the Super Eagles in the face of growing concerns about disunity in the team following a well-publicized on-field clash involving the team’s two best players.

In Nigeria’s 4-0 win over Mozambique in the round of the 16 stage, Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman engaged in a heated exchange.

After the verbal spat, Osimhen called to get substituted and didn’t join the team huddle after the win and walked straight to the team bus instead sparking reports of a rift in the team.

Ademola Lookman downplayed the issue and said there was no issue between the two after the game and in a pre-game presser, Simon acknowledged that the team is united ahead of its 2025 AFCON quarterfinal clash against Algeria on Saturday, January 10. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“It’s a team play. We are all a team and of course we are united as you can see. We play for them [Lookman and Osimhen] they are the two African Best Players [winners in back to back years].”

“We are working altogether as a team. So there is no time for who is the best and who is not the best. The most important thing is that the team is the best. We just want to win” Simon said.
