Veteran Nigeria winger Moses Simon says the Super Eagles want to win their game against Algeria to progress further in the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.

Nigeria take on Algeria at the quarterfinal stage of the competition on Saturday, January 10 at 19:00 GMT with both teams yet to lose a game four games into their campaigns.

Speaking ahead of the tie at a presser, Simon indicated that the team’s focus is on winning the game so they get closer to attaining their goal of winning the title and not to revenge Nigeria’s semifinal loss to Algeria at the 2019 AFCON.

“Of course we are aware [of that loss in 2019]. I was there also when they kicked us out in the semifinal. We are motivated.”

“We want to win, we are not going to try to win, we want to win. This is our goal and we hope we have it” Simon said.
