Rising badminton sensation Moslena Ama Korama Adu of SDA Senior High School, Gomoa Jukwa, has been crowned the winner of the maiden Elite Schools League (ESL) Sports Personality of the Year Award, a scheme instituted to honour the most outstanding student-athlete in the country.

The award was presented by the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, in recognition of Moslena’s exceptional performances across the 2025 academic and sporting year, during which she distinguished herself as one of Ghana’s most dominant school athletes.

Moslena topped a competitive shortlist of six nominees, which included her twin sister Obapomba Adu-Mintah (Badminton, SDA SHS), Phillip Odjer Tettey (Athletics, Koforidua Senior High Technical School), Godfred Opoku (Athletics, Komfo Anokye Senior High School), Portia Nkrumah (Athletics, Edinaman Senior High School) and Philemon Azumah (Athletics, Ghana National College).

It was a season defined by consistency and dominance for the young badminton star, as she amassed an impressive haul of medals across inter-school and inter-college competitions at zonal and regional levels, as well as on the national and international stage.

Her standout moment came at the maiden African School Games, where she delivered a stellar performance to win two gold medals and a bronze, firmly announcing herself as a force in African school badminton.

Beyond badminton, Moslena also showcased her versatility at the Central Region zonal level, adding gold medals in table tennis and volleyball to underline her all-round sporting excellence.

The ESL Sports Personality of the Year Award was introduced by the *Elite Schools League (ESL)*, a not-for-profit organisation leveraging digital media to promote, market and broadcast school sports competitions nationwide.

Through its innovative media-driven approach, ESL is redefining visibility for inter-school sports, providing student-athletes with a structured platform to showcase their talents while helping bridge the gap between schools and Ghana’s professional sports ecosystem.
