Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has admitted that his team fared poorly against Manchester United and the latter was the better team in the latest Manchester Derby.

Man United delivered a brilliant performance to beat Man City 2-0 at Old Trafford in Michael Carrick’s first game in charge of the Red Devils’ as interim head coach.

Bryan Mbeumo, fresh off his quarterfinal run with Cameroon at the 2025 AFCON, returned to score the first goal off a Bruno Fernandes assist on a counter attack.

Much criticized full back Patrick Dorgu, who played as a left winger in the game, scored the second goal and in his post-game interview with Sky Sports, Guardiola said his team wasn’t better than Man United.

“The better team won. They were better. When a team is better you have to accept it.”

“They had the energy we didn’t have. They had the chances at the end and of course the goals we conceded were poorly.”

“We didn’t control but in general we can talk about this action or that action. We have the duty to analyse the game in general and they were better.”
