Members of Senegal’s National Men’s Football Team have met Senegal President Bassirou Faye after winning the 2025 AFCON.
The Teranga Lions won its second AFCON title after beating Morocco 1-0 thanks to a brilliant strike from Pape Gueye in extra time.
Led by President Bassirou Faye, a high prominent government entourage met players and technical members of the team.
The team, led by captain Khalidou Koulibaly, took turns to greet members of Senegal’s government and exchange pleasantries with the officials.
The Teranga Lions are expected to parade through the streets of Dakar in a planned celebration before meeting the President again at the Palace of the Republic.

Senegal won its second AFCON title in chaotic and controversial fashion as the latter part of the game was marred by a near boycott of the game by Senegal to register their displeasure over a penalty awarded to Morocco.

After getting convinced by veteran forward Sadio Mane to get back on the field and continue with the game, goalkeeper Edouard Mendy saved Brahim Diaz’s penalty kick forcing the game to extra time before Gueye struck the winning goal.
