Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is pushing for his team to book its place in yet another final game in the Carabao Cup tournament.
He said this ahead of Man City’s Carabao Cup semifinal second leg against Newcastle United on Wednesday, February 4 at the Etihad Stadium. Man City won the first leg 2-0.
Ghana’s Antoine Semenyo scored in the win against Newcastle to underline his brilliant start to life at Man City after transferring from AFC Bournemouth. In five games, the Black Stars player has four goals and an assist in all competitions.
In a pre-game interview, Pep Guardiola highlighted the team’s success in the competition in recent years and called on his team to create more history by stating,
“We have the chance to make a fifth final in 10 years. A good result I would prefer to start with 2-0.”

“I know perfectly Eddie Howe and the times we played against Newcastle and the pride they have. A Champions League team and we have to be prepared.”

The winner progresses to the final to play Arsenal.
