Liverpool FC head coach Arne Slot says more should be done to deal with racism in football in light of the latest high profile racist incident in football.
Slot said this at a presser while addressing the alleged racial abuse Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr suffered from Benfica’s Argentine player Gianluca Prestianni.
Vinicius Jr scored a brilliant goal to give Real Madrid a 1-0 win over Benfica in the UEFA Champions League playoffs but was allegedly racially abused by Prestianni after celebrating the goal.
The Brazilian reported the issue to the referee leading to the game getting halted for 10 minutes before play continued. UEFA has since commenced investigations into the issue but for Slot more needs to be done.
“In general, you can never do enough, you can always do more. We should always try to do more to make sure this never happens again and that’s what I mean in general.”

“I think we have to try as a football world, football community, to do more than society does – that’s maybe not so difficult by the way” Slot said.
