Chelsea FC manager Liam Rosenior has refused to blame his team’s youthfulness as the reason behind the Blues’ failure to beat lowly ranked Burnley at home in the English Premier League.

Chelsea drew 1-1 with Burnley at Stamford Bridge in a game that had Joao Pedro score in the fourth minute.

However, Burnley’s Zian Flemming scored the equalizer in the 94th minute to grab a point for Burnley. The momentum of the game went Burnley’s way after Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana was sent off for a rash challenge in the 72nd minute.

Speaking after the game at a presser, Rosenior wasn’t happy with his team’s wastefulness in front of goal but added that he knew what needed to be done.

“A marking assignment was missed, it was not done. I’m not here to throw players under the bus. There was a player we assigned the duty [of marking Flemming] who marked the wrong player.”

“There are certain values you need to have in your team. The best teams that win titles win the game 1-0 when they don’t have the best performance. That should have been 1-0 today. I know what we need to get there. It’s not about youth.”

“Youth is one thing, accountability is another. I’m accountable for every result and performance we have. We need to have players we can rely on to do their job. Our record of defending set plays this season is not at the level” Rosenior said.
