Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi says the club must stay focused and keep moving forward as it deals with the latest injury setback to midfielder Mohammed Kudus.

The Black Stars midfielder suffered a fresh injury during a recovery session from a quad problem that had already ruled him out for about three months earlier in the year.

The new setback is expected to sideline him for several weeks, with reports suggesting surgery could be considered depending on further assessment.

The injury also raises doubts over his availability for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Ghana has been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, Croatia and England.

Speaking ahead of Tottenham’s Premier League match against Sunderland on Sunday, April 12, 2026, De Zerbi said the team must not dwell on setbacks and should instead focus on maintaining squad stability and collective responsibility going forward.

“Kudus was in my head a crucial player, especially for the position but we have to look forward. We have a lot of very good attackers but we have to help them and put them in the very best position.”

In his debut season at Spurs, Kudus has six assists and three goals in 26 games in all competitions. This weekend’s game against Sunderland is De Zerbi’s first game in charge of Spurs after his recent appointment to replace dismissed Igor Tudor.
