“This Is Not Just a Job, It Is a Mission” – Carlos Queiroz after Black stars appointment

Black stars new  head coach Carlos Queiroz has pledged his full commitment to Ghana, describing his appointment as a mission driven by passion, responsibility, and respect for the nation’s football heritage.

In his first message following his appointment by the Ghana Football Association, the veteran coach expressed deep gratitude and outlined his vision for the team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“A Mission, Not Just a Contract”

Queiroz made it clear that his role goes beyond a typical managerial appointment, emphasising his emotional connection to the challenge.

“It is with a deep sense of gratitude, responsibility and humility that I embrace this new chapter with Ghana. This is not just another job ;  it is a mission.”

He highlighted Ghana’s football identity, praising the country’s talent and rich history while expressing confidence in its future.

“Ghana is a nation of talent, pride, and footballing soul. I arrive with respect for its history and belief in its future.”

Experience Meets Urgency

Queiroz brings decades of global experience, having managed top sides including Real Madrid and worked alongside Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.

At international level, he has led teams such as Portugal national team, Iran national team, and Egypt national team, building a reputation as a tactically disciplined coach capable of stabilising teams ahead of major tournaments.

Eyes on a Tough World Cup Group

Ghana have been drawn into a challenging group alongside England, Croatia and Panama. 

With the tournament fast approaching, Queiroz stressed the importance of unity, discipline, and ambition as key pillars for success.

“Together, with unity, discipline, and ambition, we will work to honour the expectations of a great football nation.”

A Nation Watching

Queiroz’s words signal a clear intent to rally both players and fans as Ghana prepare for the global stage.

With expectations high and time limited, his appointment marks the beginning of a crucial chapter for the Black Stars; one where experience, structure, and belief will be tested against the world’s best.
