Member of Parliament for Ashaiman and Chairman of Parliament’s Select Committee on Sports, Ernest Henry Norgbey, has urged Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz to remain open-minded in expanding the national team pool.

His comments follow the appointment of the veteran Portuguese tactician earlier this week as head coach of Ghana’s senior men’s national team.

Queiroz has been tasked with leading Ghana’s campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the Black Stars are in Group L alongside Panama, Croatia, and England.

The former Real Madrid, Iran, and Egypt coach is on a four-month contract with an option to extend, with Norgbey stressing the need to broaden player selection while praising his appointment. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“He-Carlos Queiroz- should also cast his net wider to embrace Ghanaian nationals who are plying their trade elsewhere who are willing and capable to play for the national team.”

“He shouldn’t limit himself to the team, the players that have been handed over to him but he should look elsewhere and see which player that will fit into the team and fit into his philosophy” Ernest Norgbey said.
