Real Oviedo have officially been relegated from the 2025-2026 Spanish La Liga season and will compete next season in the Spanish Segunda.
This came on the back of Oviedo drawing goalless with Getafe at home with the result condemning Oviedo to last place in the 20 team league standings.
After delivering a feel good story with their promotion to the league prior to the season which was largely thanks to former Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla’s return to the club, Oviedo suffered a heart breaking quick return to the lower division.
The home side needed a win to give its chances of staying in the premier division the faintest of hope but that was undone by dismissals to Oviedo players Javi Lopez and Kwasi Sibo.
Sibo got shown a straight red card in the 78th minute after catching an opponent high on his knee with his follow through after clearing the ball. (Scroll down to watch video)

In 26 league games, Black Stars midfielder Sibo has no goals and assists at the time of writing.
