Liverpool have released images of a planned memorial to honour former forward Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva following their deaths last year.

Jota, aged 28, and Andre Silva, 25, who played for FC Penafiel, died in a car crash on 3 July in the Spanish province of Zamora.

The proposed sculpture, titled Forever 20, is designed around a flowing heart shape, reflecting Jota’s well-known goal celebration during his playing career.

The memorial will also feature the brothers’ shirt numbers, 20 and 30, alongside lyrics from a chant dedicated to Jota that Liverpool supporters sing during the 20th minute of matches.

According to the club, the tribute is intended to celebrate the brothers’ “lives, their bond, and the love and respect felt by family, team-mates and supporters across the world”.

The memorial will be installed at Anfield, specifically on 97 Avenue, and will incorporate materials from the many tributes left by fans in the aftermath of Jota’s death. Items placed outside the stadium have been recycled and integrated into the stone base of the structure, adding a personal dimension to the design.

Liverpool have not yet confirmed a date for the unveiling ceremony but say further details will be announced in due course.

Jota joined Liverpool from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2020 and went on to make a significant impact at the club. During his time on Merseyside, he scored 65 goals in 182 appearances and helped the team secure major honours, including the Premier League, FA Cup and two League Cups.

The planned memorial represents a lasting tribute to both brothers, ensuring their memory remains part of the club’s identity and matchday experience at Anfield
