German National Men’s Football Team head coach Julian Nagelsmann delivered a handful of surprises in naming his squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The former TSG Hoffenheim head coach named Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer in his squad for the upcoming competition. (Scroll down to view full list)
The 40 year old has had a bounce back year aiding Bayern Munich to reach the UEFA Champions League semifinals, win the Bundesliga title and a win from lifting the German Cup on Saturday, May 23.
Neuer’s call up led to Girona goalkeeper Marc Andre Ter Stegen, who is on loan from FC Barcelona, not included in the team.
There were a few shocks in personnel choices for outfield players as Brentford’s Kevin Schade and Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi weren’t included in the team.

Bayern Munich’s fast rising youngster Karl Lennart made the squad after having a breakthrough campaign with the Bavarians.

The 18 year old Bayern Munich academy product registered five goals and five assists in 26 league games.
At the 2026 World Cup, Germany is in Group E with Ecuador, Curacao and Ivory Coast.
