His impending exit was confirmed by the club on Friday, May 22 after rumours of his departure surfaced in the wake of Man City missing out on winning the league title. Man City’s 1-1 draw with Bournemouth confirmed Arsenal as league champions.

Guardiola has spent a decade at the club after stints at FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich and in his time at the Manchester club, the Spaniard has won 20 trophies with his last being the Carabao Cup and FA Cup triumphs this season.

Speaking to the club’s media, Guardiola reflected on his journey that had him win the much sought after UEFA Champions League for Man City.

“What a time we have had together. Don’t ask me the reasons I’m leaving. There is no reason, but deep inside, I know it’s my time. Nothing is eternal. We worked. We suffered. We fought. And we did things our own way. Our way”

“Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for trusting me. Thank you for pushing me. Thank you for loving me. Love you all” Guardiola said.
