The agent of tennis legend Serena Williams-Jim Smoller- has stated that the American player is working hard to recover from a knee injury to be able to compete in the doubles event at this year’s Wimbledon tournament.
Smoller said that after Williams’s celebrated return to competitive tennis after a four year retirement ended in her first game in the tournament.
Williams lost 3-6, 7-6, 3-6 against fellow Australian player Maya Joint in the first round but suffered a knee injury in the game.
However, Serena is eligible to play in the doubles event where she and sister Venus are scheduled to take on Solana Sierra and Camila Osorio on Thursday, July 2.
“Serena tweaked her right knee at the end of the first set and was therefore excused from her media obligations by the Wimbledon and WTA medical teams.”

“She left site that night unaided and is doing everything she can to be ready for her doubles match later this week” Smoller said.
