Andrey Santos has been unveiled after he completed a permanent move from Chelsea F.C. to Manchester United F.C. in a deal worth £50 million.

The agreement consists of a guaranteed £48 million fee, with a further £2 million in performance-related add-ons. Chelsea have also secured a 10 per cent sell-on clause as part of the transfer.

The 22-year-old Brazil international becomes the first permanent signing under new Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick.

Santos opted for a move after facing increased competition for regular minutes at Chelsea, particularly following the club’s failure to qualify for European competition for the 2026/27 season.

His hopes of establishing himself as a first-team regular were also affected by Moisés Caicedo signing a contract extension that keeps him at Stamford Bridge until 2033.

United continue midfield rebuild

The signing of Santos comes as Manchester United continue to strengthen their midfield ahead of the new campaign.

The club are also reportedly advancing negotiations to sign Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa F.C. in a deal valued at around £36 million.

Meanwhile, United have not abandoned their interest in Ederson despite a previous move stalling because of a medical issue. Reports indicate the Premier League side could revive discussions later in the transfer window if circumstances change.

However, Santos’ arrival is understood to be part of United’s wider recruitment strategy rather than a replacement for Ederson.

The Brazilian midfielder now arrives at Old Trafford looking to establish himself as a key figure in Carrick’s new-look Manchester United side.
