Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme continued his fine form by winning the men’s 100m at the Gyulai István Memorial in Budapest in a season best 9.99 seconds on Tuesday July 14.
Eseme was the only athlete to break the 10 second barrier, finishing ahead of Ghana’s Abdul Rashid Saminu, who clocked 10.01 seconds, while Jamaica’s Ackeem Blake took third in 10.04 seconds.
South Africa’s Akani Simbine and Jamaica’s Nishion Ebanks shared fourth place after both ran 10.05 seconds.
The victory adds to an outstanding season for Eseme, who also won the men’s 100m title at the African Senior Athletics Championships in Accra, beating Saminu and Joseph Paul Amoah to claim the continental crown.
Eseme and Saminu are both set to represent their countries at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The Gyulai István Memorial is one of the top meets on the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold, attracting many of the world’s leading track and field athletes each year.
