Chief Executive Officer of the English Football Association, Mark Bullingham, has described England’s loss to Argentina as “heartbreaking”.
Thomas Tuchel’s team lost 2-1 to Argentina in the semifinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup to miss out on winning the World Cup title since winning its only title in 1966.
The loss follows similar results recorded by the Three Lions at the semifinals at the 1990 World Cup and 2018 World Cup.
In a statement release, Bullingham expressed his disappointment over the latest letdown by the National Men’s Football Team, by saying,
“It is heartbreaking to be so close. The players and Thomas gave it everything today and the squad, coaches and staff could not have worked harder during the tournament.”

“I would like to thank them all and also give my heartfelt thanks to our wonderful fans here in the USA and at home. We felt your support every step of the way and we are all so disappointed not to go further.”

England take on France in the bronze medal game on Saturday, July 18.
