Ghana has moved up in the latest FIFA World Rankings after competing at the recently ended 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana moved up eight places in the rankings that got released following the conclusion of this year’s World Cup that had Spain win the title. Spain moved up a spot to rank number one in the world.
Spain beat Argentina 1-0 to clinch the title for the second time while preventing Argentina from successfully defending the trophy the South American nation won in 2022.
By qualifying to the round of 32 stage at the World Cup, Ghana moved from 73rd in the rankings to 65th; Ghana crashed out of the World Cup after losing 1-0 to Colombia in the knockout stage. Ghana ranks 14th on the African list that has Morocco as number one.

Other African nations that competed in the World Cup also made gains in the rankings with South Africa moving up six places while Cape Verde moved up three places.

However, Tunisia’s disastrous run at the 2026 World Cup, where the North African nation lost all three games at the group stage had the Carthage Eagles drop 12 spots in the rankings to 57th.
