Ghanaian clubs Medeama SC and Nations FC have learned their opponents in the preliminary rounds of the 2026-2027 CAF interclub competitions following Thursday’s draw at CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
In the CAF Champions League, Ghana Premier League champions Medeama have been drawn against Congolese giants TP Mazembe. The Tarkwa based club will host the first leg at the TnA Stadium before travelling to the DR Congo for the return fixture.
If Medeama eliminates the five-time African champions, they will face either Tunisia’s Club Africain or Mali’s Djoliba AC in the second preliminary round.
In the CAF Confederation Cup, MTN FA Cup winners Nations FC will take on Mali’s FC Diarra in the first preliminary round.
The Kumasi-based side will begin their campaign away in Mali between September 4 and 6 before hosting the return leg in Ghana from September 11 to 13.
Should Nations FC progress, they will face the winner of the tie between Niger’s AS Zam and Togo’s ASKO de Kara.
Nations FC qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup after winning the 2025 to 2026 MTN FA Cup, earning the club’s first appearance in African club competition.
Medeama, meanwhile, return to the CAF Champions League for the second time after winning the Ghana Premier League title last season.
